Sexual Urges

[Kh...]

Recommended Posts

I have been on a taper for 18 mos. after 30 yrs of Xanax use(prescribed). I have been off all meds now for 2 months but have had strong sexual urges.

I have never seen this as a withdrawal symptom. I have had numerous other symptoms but these are new.

Has anyone had this experience??

Thanks.

Yeah. This has actually been a nightmare for me, since I have also developed weird reaction to arousal that involves 24 hours of torture after the fact. The torturous experience appears to be related to CT'ing a peripheral dopamine antagonist (domperidone), which I am guessing caused dopamine supersensitivity. I have noticed that if I take a small bit of the domperidone it stops the somatic anxiety attack, but I can't do this, since it aggravates the already extreme insomnia for nearly a week afterwards.

The hypersexuality is, I assume, related to a hyperactive nervous system. But I do find it puzzling, since you would think in such an exhausted state you would not exactly be in the mood for such activity.

I was very happy when this started in withdrawal because while being poly-drugged I was a robot with absolutly no sex drive. For me this was a sign of healing.

Did I feel like a teenager then? Yes. Did that matter or hurt someone? No.

It happened to the right time and it helped me to make peace with my body

I remember one if the admins from way back (been on here for 4 years now) that talked about being obsessed with porn videos, even though she had never been like that before coming off the drugs. I’ve heard of it happening to others here. It’s hard to say how common it is it as some people may not want to talk about it.

Wow, I've been here since 2012 and never saw an admin mention this.  Or actually, haven't seen anyone here say this.

I know it's happened to lookingforward, but if she ever sees this thread, she'll post about it. I have read some accounts of this.

I have been having the hypersexual symptom during my withdrawal. I figured out it was hypersensuality in general. Sometimes I can experience the sensuality part by itself; hard to describe. Of course if I am having a bunch of other symptoms with my GI problems, intense sleepiness & so on...it takes a back seat or disappears. I guess it's physical hypersensitivity from what I've read in the symptoms section. If I had the insurance & money (which I don't) regular massages would be very helpful I believe, for the general hyperphysicality. My chiropractor has excellent message therapists but what are you going to do without the means of payment? The insurance & copays have to go for the adjustments because of my several musculoskeletal challenges or I would no longer be ambulatory. From what I can gather, this hyper situation can be a positive sign of healing so I try to take it as such. Lately new symptoms have entered the scene like despondency & some depression but again, everything is like a phase to be soldiered through as best I can. I have been in some strange states that I know are from the withdrawal. Someone mentioned a hyperactive nervous system during healing, so I just leave it at that. Sexual urges are a verboten topic in many cultures so I agree that more people may be experiencing hyperphysicality but don't mention it. I don't blame anyone though...just my opinion but the society I have always been around has never been more than infantile about the human body. Oh well. Oh, I have not had any negative symptoms surrounding the hyperphysicality unlike some people reported. That's a good thing. I've had these symptoms so long I'm just sort of used to them now. I expect they will fade in intensity as the detox finishes someday. I know someone mentioned female porn in this thread but I have heard there is almost nothing really, for females in the majority of porn productions that I would find positive. Also I am so non-technical, I wouldn't be able to deal with my old computer around that topic. Too out of it indeed

I remember grousing that there couldn't be "positive" side effects to this business. Like why are only the worst aspects of my mind/body systems being activated. Why don't I get intensely happy, or super strong, or see the face of God? Then I read a thread started by people who were in a constant state of euphoria (I don't have the energy to search for it right now), and they actually made it sounds awful.

Well, I'm 71 and all that disappears totally and completely.  At least it did for me.

Had an Adrenal SPIT TEST and it revealed all my sex hormones are GONE, GONE, GONE!

So that is one Sxs I do NOT have to deal with.
