Advice for better breathing

Do you also feel that breathing is affected when you feel bad? Then it becomes easy to breathe with the chest instead of the stomach (although I know it's completely wrong). I hyperventilate, and gets dry in my mouth. I don`t know if it is good to breathe in a paper bag or not, what do you think? Do you have any good exercises to improve breathing?

Yes it's  hard. I fel my diagpham is very badly affected and more so because of a spinal problem at that level and then t pelvic prolapse pulling on all of those muscles.

I also end up mouth breathing which is not fun.

Have you tried Alternate Nostril Breathing?

There is also a god range of different breathing exercises to try here: http://yogayak.com/pranayama/

I can't sit easily atm but I always found meditation helpful for dropping the breath in to te belly.

  • 3 weeks later...
Breathe in slowly through your nose while counting to 4, hold your breath while counting to 5, slowly as possible exhale with your lips pursed almost like your whistling while counting to 6. Proven to instantly reduce anxiety and stop hyper ventilating.
