Need liquid titration plan and instructions

Hi I am on 2mg of xanax daytime and 2mg estazolam at night. I'd like to taper off both of these meds at the same time using a liquid titration. I think that I would like to taper off both meds every 2 weeks. I now take .5mg of xanax 4 times a day. How would I taper off of this? Also, I take 2mg. tablet of estazolam at night. I would need to make a separate batch for the night dose. I am already going through tolerance withdrawal and have been on these meds for 13 years. I'm really scared. My doctor prescribed them and I just found out how bad and long the withdrawal can be. My doctor is now also putting me on different mood stabilizers and taking me off of them if I have bad side effects. I would really appreciate some guidance. I don't think that I can ask my psych doc to switch me over to valium because He would probably get angry. Thank you very much.

My xanax bar tablet is not scored for 4 doses. It is scored for 3 doses so I have to cut it into 4 pieces with a knife.That is how I take it now. Should I just crush the whole 2mg. bar  and put it in the cylinder? I guess that the cylinder would have 1ml graduations. I would use a 100ml cylinder I guess. Maybe I would need a cylinder with more ml since I would need to take 4 doses a day. I would like to taper 10% every 2 weeks. Would I just use a syringe and take a certain amount from the total liquid in the cylinder and then pour 4 equal amounts of liquid into 4 different containers so that I would drink each dose 4 times a day? I really don't know how to go about this. Would you please create a table for me for this schedule of titration?

I made this plan according to your post. I want to make sure that you are aware that both of these medications are benzo's & the taper rate may be to fast. It is a total of 20%(we recommend 5 - 10%) You may need to slow it down if you become to symptomatic or better yet, maybe consider tapering one benzo first or cut the reduction rate in half 

 

Here is a detailed Taper plan & schedule to reduce from 2mg Xanax (.25mg 4x a day) & 2mg Estazolam (2mg 1x evening)

 

Plan is to reduce 10% of current dose every 14 days. Daily reductions will be made by reducing .71% each day using a liquid suspension. Taper rate may be changed according to symptoms.

 

Equipment needed:

100ml graduating cylinder, 10ml syringe, 1ml 100 increment tuberculin syringes (without needle), Ora-plus suspension vehicle, 2- storage jars with lids.

** Each line on the 1ml 100 increment syringe = .001ml using a 1:10(1mg=10ml) formula)**

 

FORMULA #1: 1:10 (1mg = 10ml) 1 week supply

1) Crush 7-2mg (14mg) Xanax tablets into a fine powder using mortise & pestal

2) Using a 100 ml graduating cylinder  measure 70ml of Ora-Plus suspension + 70ml of distilled water put in a suitable glass jar w/lid  Shake well

3) Add crushed Xanax tablets to Ora-Plus Suspension. Shake vigorously.

5) Use a 1ml 100 increment tuberculin syringe (without needle) to draw up liquid portion of dose.

** Instead of crushing tablets: Use 30ml of Ethanol + 70ml Ora-Plus + 40ml distilled water

Thank you very much Bella Amis. I really appreciate your help. I have recently told my doctor that I want to get off of the xanax and estazolam and he said that he would do a slow taper that would take 8 months to a year. I don't know what he has in mind, I guess that I will find out at my next appointment. He told me that I wouldn't suffer during the taper. I think that I will. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything to him and just started with your taper schedule. He would maybe get angry if he found out that I was not working with him on this. Also, I think that you're right about tapering off of each benzo at 5% every 2 weeks. I tend to want to speed things up too fast. I need to see what he says. Thanks again. 

Bluecar why not copy this taper plan & bring it to your doctor. Tell him you want to start at this 5% rate then maybe at some point you will feel well enough to "pick-up the pace" if you are able

Also, I think that I would use whole milk for the mixture. Would that be a total of 140 ml of milk?

Alprazolam is a white crystalline powder, which is soluble in methanol or ethanol but which

has no appreciable solubility in water at physiological pH

 

I do not believe Xanax is fully  lipid soluble(I could be wrong). Xanax is soluble in ethanol or you can crush up & make a suspension how described in previous post.
