please anyone, help me with a titration plan schedule off of .5 ativan,

how many ml is recommended . how much to pull? i feel stuck.

Hi kinipelaiam89-

I can help you with a titration plan. I need to know a few things first.

1) How many times a day do you dose?

2) How fast do you want to reduce?

3) Preferred solvents &/or carriers for preparing a suspension or a solution IE: milk, alcohol, pg, ora-plus

4) How many mg are your tablets?

5) What method do you prefer? Daily microtaper or cut & hold?

6) Are you having interdose withdrawals?

i now dose 3 times a day

right now im just using water

i tried whole milk and it wasnt going well

my tablets is 0.5

i was thinking i was having interdose when i was doing milk and dosing only 2 times a day

daily micrro taper

im currently at 0.45 since i pulled 6ml over some days and ive been holding.i was pulling 1ml out of 60ml

Hi kinipelaiam89-

Withdrawal generally does produce symptoms in most people. These symptoms may range in intensity & duration. So you will more than likely experience symptoms regardless of tapering methods or speeds as long as they are within the recommended range. There may be several other factors contributing to your symptoms. Ativan is not water soluble, reducing dosage to quickly.

Here is the taper speeds I used:

Start tapering rate: 10% in 14 days (10% of 1mg =.10mg/14days= .007mg reduction per day)

(If you are symptomatic cut this rate in half for a 5% reduction)

So a 10% reduction taper chart would look like this:

(These figures are rounded off)

Weeks 1 & 2:

10% of 1mg =.10mg/14days= .007mg reduction per day

Reduce .007mg  per day

Weeks 3 & 4:

10% of .90mg =.09mg/14days= .006mg reduction per day

Reduce .006mg  per day

Weeks 5 & 6:

10% of .82mg =.082mg/14days= .007mg reduction per day

Reduce .006mg  per day

etc

This is they way I made my liquid for my daily titration.  1:10 suspension (1mg=10ml):

1) Put 1mg of Ativan in 2ml ethanol (let sit 10 minutes till broken down)

2) Add 6ml of Ora- Plus + 2ml of distilled water shake well

Using a 1ml 100 increment tuberculin syringe (each line equals .001mg (using a 1:10 suspension)) draw out your daily reduction & consume the rest (you can split this into as many doses as you need)

It may seem  redundant to use a solvent with a suspension. I chose to prepare my suspension like this to ensure that the tablets are broken down adequately & the medication disperses evenly in the Ora-Plus. This seems important especially when diluting with water & making large batches. The ethanol (alcohol) actually acts as an emulsifier, a preservative as well as a solvent. This is the  method that worked best for me.  :)

No I did not take ativan but that is the same formula for preparing the liquid. Do not want to confuse you. Distilled water works well if you are going to store liquid for any length of time. Say you make a large batch.

This above chart is just an example.

i just ordered ora plus right now online, how do i use that with a 0.5 pill?

1:10 formula (1mg=10ml)

1) Put 1mg of Ativan in 2ml ethanol (let sit 10 minutes till broken down)

2) Add 6ml of Ora- Plus + 2ml of distilled water shake well

So you prepare the liquid as instructed. There are 2- .5mg doses in this preparation. The chart is only an example. You need to complete the chart;

To take a .45mg dose you would need to draw out 4.5ml. Use a 10ml syringe & a 1ml 100 increment tuberculin syringe (each line equals .001mg (using a 1:10 suspension))

The reductions & total daily doses  from .5mg would look like this:

(these calculations are rounded off)

Weeks 1 & 2:

10% of .5mg =.05mg/14days= .004mg reduction per day

Reduce .004mg  per day

.50 -.004= .496

Day1- Take 4.96ml

Day2- Take 4.92ml

Day3- Take 4.88ml

Day4- Take 4.84ml

Day5- Take 4.80ml

etc

Weeks 3 & 4:

10% of .45mg =.045mg/14days= .004mg reduction per day

Reduce .004mg  per day

Day1- Take 4.40ml

Day2- Take 4.36ml

Day3- Take 4.32ml

Day4- Take 4.28ml

Day5- Take 4.24ml

etc.

Weeks 5 & 6:

10% of .39mg =.039mg/14days= .003mg reduction per day

Reduce .003mg  per day

Day1- Take 3.90ml

Day2- Take 3.86ml

Day3- Take 3.82ml

Day4- Take 3.78ml

Day5- Take 3.74ml

etc.

You do not have to use alcohol if you use Ora-Plus. You can crush the tablets up into a fine powder. Make sure you shake liquid well prior to each dose.

How to make formula:

Small Batch makes 10ml; 1:10 (10ml=1mg)

1) Put 6ml of Ora- Plus + 4ml of distilled water in a suitable container shake well

2) Crush 1mg of Ativan

3) Add crushed Ativan to suspension shake well

Large Batch makes 100ml; 1:10 (10ml=1mg):

1) Put 60ml of Ora- Plus + 40ml of distilled water in a suitable container shake well

2) Crush 10mg of Ativan

3) Add crushed Ativan to suspension shake well

Ativan is NOT water-soluble.

You can create a suspension with OraPlus, , as mentioned, above, or you can make a solution by dissolving it in either alcohol (vodka) or propylene glycol, then diluting with water.

If you use vodka or PG, the usual poportions are 1mg A + 2ml vodka or PG + 8ml water.  That gives you a final concentration ov .1mg per ml.

thank you..do you know alot of people who did this without serious symptoms? im so nervous. so i dont wait 2 weeks or so each cut? i can tell im really dependent already. thats why i did titration but its not working out.

how to make a suspension with ora plus?

i know 6 people who are using only water and they tappered off.

Hi kinipelaiam89-

Sorry you are confused.

I posted this yesterday. This is how to make the Ora-Plus suspension. You can make a large batch or small batch. Once you make the batch just remove your TOTAL daily dose from the container. Then you can divide that dose into how ever many doses you need throughout the day.

Good luck with your taper!

but how much ora plus to put in my water if im doing 60ml ?

OraPlus can only be diluted 50%, so if you want 60ml of liquid, you could do 30ml OraPlus +30ml water.

Note:  You do not have to dilute the OraPlus, you can use it full strength.

It really doesn't matter.  All the matters is how much med, in MILLIGRAMS that you take each day.  If you increase the liquid, it just means you drink more liquid  to get the same dose of medicine.

I have always recommended a concentration of .1mg per ml, because it makes calculating and measuring very simple.  But you can choose any ratio you feel comfortable with.  The only thing that matters is how many milligrams of med you take.

Why don't you just follow these instructions that Bella Amis posted?

Small Batch makes 10ml; 1:10 (10ml=1mg)

1) Put 6ml of Ora- Plus + 4ml of distilled water in a suitable container shake well

2) Crush 1mg of Ativan

3) Add crushed Ativan to suspension shake well

You may be better off just taking the .5mg tablet until your Ora-plus comes in. Then once your Ora-Plus comes in use the formula I gave you along with the taper chart on the previous page to do a proper daily taper from .5mg of Ativan.

Yup, just keep taking your tablet until your OraPlus comes in.

It won't matter how much you shake it, the Ativan is not water-soluble.
