Buspar

Has anyone tried Buspar for anxiety? My psych dr prescribed it to me but I’m weary of taking it. Any insight would be helpful!

This is from a brief experience with Buspar.  My mother tried it for almost 3 weeks, going up to 40 mg per day, but it did absolutely nothing for her anxiety.  Her primary doctor had prescribed it, while she was going through Prozac withdrawal (cold turkey) and taking Xanax; the Buspar was supposed to replace Xanax, but didn't work.  After we ditched the Buspar, her psychiatrist told us that Buspar doesn't work when taken along with a benzodiazepine; the psychiatrist then switched my mother to Ativan, which caused terrible dizziness and double vision, so we went back to Xanax.  All of which started to make us really wary of our "doctors." 

Geez I’m so sorry. Drs don’t know it all and sometimes steer us in the wrong direction. I hope your mom is doing better 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m wary of trying it as well because I read it can take as long as an antidepressant to work. When you’re depressed and anxious, who has to much time
