NYTimes, Nov.10/17: "The Insanity of Taxpayer-Funded Addiction"

I just read this, this morning, before you posted.  The abuse-resistant tablets, or whatever they called them, that is a marketing gimmick that is killing thousands and addicting even more.  Feel like this should be bigger news than it is.

As far as I'm aware, the available "non-addictive pain medications" that we have are non-steroidal anti-inflammatories and acetaminophen, both of which come with a range of side effects as well. There are the gabapentinoids and some SSRIs that are also used for pain, but they, too, have issues. I'd love to see the perfect pain pill that comes with no side effects and no addiction and works like a dream, but I really doubt it's out there.

Anyway, for those who are already struggling with addiction to opioids, let us hope that there is appropriate help and support, such as SLOW tapering, plus the addition of non-pharmaceutical options, if possible.

I hate the marketing machine. So many have died. It's really time for honesty and proper help.
