Researchers sure come up with weird ways to spend their research dollars.

So as a result of this study, can we expect to see intros of this form: "Hi, I'm X and I'm new to benzobuddies. I've been on Valium for 10 years and I really wanna get off because, like, I signed up for this thing where I get like $500 if I get off. Please help me taper, I really need the 5 Benjamins. Thanks a bunch, benzo buds!".

:)

This belongs on the "Humor (maybe)" thread:

Respondents strongly preferred guaranteed cash-based incentives as opposed to a lottery, and the dollar amount of both the starting and conditional incentives had a substantial impact on choice. Willingness to participate increased with the amount of conditional incentive. Programme participation also varied by gender, duration of use and income.

I'm so glad I could finally provide some entertainment in the News section! Nice for a change, no?

I was pretty surprised to read this one. I did double-take when I first read the title.
