But understand that in a large percentage of these cases, the medication is given to make the doctor's, caregiver's, institution staff's and even the family's lives easier, not the patient's. This is similar to what's going on in rest homes for the elderly. Everything runs more smoothly when everyone is drugged and drooling on themselves. [La...] Posted August 27, 2017 Author Share Posted August 27, 2017 I think this paragraph speaks to your comment, PhotoBug: One of the major factors behind the number of prescriptions could be the fact that medications are often the most affordable and easily accessible method of treatment for families and caregivers struggling to manage the aggression, agitation, self-injury or other challenging behaviours of a person with developmental disabilities.
