The full title of this Toronto Star article is "Two people die every day in Ontario of opioid-related causes, research shows".

 

A key paragraph states:

 

"The report, published Thursday on the network’s website, shows that opioid-related deaths often involved other drugs, both legal and illicit, which may also contribute to deaths. Toxicology tests showed traces of benzodiazepine in the systems of just over half of those who died and cocaine in nearly one-third."

 

Benzodiazepines plus opioids are a deadly combination since both are central nervous system depressants and both cause respiratory depression.
