Study, June/17: "Beliefs about the consequences of using benzodiazepines..."

The full title of this American study is "Beliefs about the consequences of using benzodiazepines among persons with opioid use disorder".

86% of the participants in this study were heroin users.  Nearly all of them admitted they were aware that benzos increased their risks of overdose and addiction, but used them anyway.  No surprise there.  I would be more interested in studies of people prescribed benzos alone and their understanding of the risks.

Actually, I think we can all probably figure that out without a study. 

LOL true.  To have a belief system about anything implies that you have given it a lot of thought.  Actually, I don't think most doctors give it much thought at all.
