[La...]
This recent study, entitled "Efficacy of Antidepressants for Depression in Alzheimer's Disease: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis" stated that "In terms of response to treatment (6 studies, 297 patients treated with antidepressants and 223 with placebo), no statistically significant difference between antidepressants and placebo was found (odds ratio (OR) 1.95, 95% CI 0.97-3.92)." So, there was no statistically significant difference between taking the antidepressants and the placebo pills, yet there were likely many side effects. I hope people are given the efficacy information at the time that the prescriptions are offered. It's called "informed consent". https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28505970
