The full title of this American study is "Regulation of GABAA receptor structure and function by chronic drug treatments in vivo and with stably transfected cells."

"Sedative/hypnotic drugs such as benzodiazepines, barbiturates and alcohol that potentiate GABAA receptor function produce tolerance and dependence. Chronic treatment of GABAA receptor preparations from brain and neuronal cultures with GABAA agonists, as well as these other three classes of drugs, results in regulation of several properties of the receptor."
