Guest [Le...]
This is from 2013, but I found it while searching to see if benzos are linked to hyperalgesia, which is an increased sensitivity to pain. Since so many of us, during benzo withdrawal and recovery, experience worse pain in pre-existing pain sites, it seems that, even independent of opioid use, stopping benzos may in fact cause our existing pain to increase sharply. This study appears to support that: Benzodiazepines and Pain " . . . additional studies have only strengthened this premise—most notably research indicating that benzodiazepines reduce the analgesic effects of opioids and that their long-term use can result in hyperalgesia, thereby exacerbating the pain by lowering the pain threshhold."
