[La...]
This Danish study is entitled "Off-Label Prescription of Psychopharmacological Drugs in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry". According to Wikipedia, "Off-label use is the use of pharmaceutical drugs for an unapproved indication or in an unapproved age group, dosage, or route of administration." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-label_use ) Before you ask....Yes, benzodiazepines were one of the types of psychiatric medications prescribed to the children and adolescents in this study. The abstract concludes with the following: "This study found a frequent use of off-label prescriptions when treating children and adolescents with psychopharmacological drugs other than ADHD medication. In addition, prescription of more than 1 psychotropic drug is common. These findings support the need for extending the evidence base for psychopharmacologic treatment in children and adolescents." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27529772
