I Feeling Weird Withdrawal Off 3.0MG. Like I Said Before I Was Taking 4mg At One For 2 Years Because Anixety Was Bad. I Feel Like Dizzy And Fainting Sometimes. My Hands Shake. I'm 27 Years Old. I Don't Know How I Am Going To Go Benzo Free With Xanax. I Been On It Since The Mayo Clinic In 2003 Low Dosages.
Now From 4mg To 3mg then January 2.75 And so On
If I Feel Bad I Will Tell My Doc To Switch Me To (K) Or V 2mg

Hi Mikey,
Yes, xanax is a bit more difficult to taper directly off of because of it's short half life, though there are several people here who have done it.
But if it becomes too difficult for you, I would discuss with your doc about switching to Valium. Even Klonopin, which has a medium half life, might be a better choice.

Hi Mikey,
I was on 5mg of Xanax per day. I started tapering in July, my initial drop was 1mg, staying here for 46 days, why? It was the Dr's idea. I had already started taper and when I went for my appointment he suggested I stay on the 4mg for a further month.
From there I have made cuts of 0625mg by cutting a .25mg pill in to 1/4's. I have so far made my cuts approximately every 2 weeks. My Last cut was .1250 on 27November I am now down to 3mg. Also since the start of my taper I have spread my doses evenly over 24hrs.
Now I have 6 doses @.5mg every 4 hrs. My next cut wont be until mid January as I am going on Vacation and the Dr thought it would be a good idea to hold until I come back home, must admit I tend to agree with him. I also keep a daily journal date when I make a cut, the amount times I dose and note comments on how I'm feeling, it helps me to refer back if I hit a rough patch.
You have done so well that is a great achievement you are half way there. I wish you luck, and will follow your progress don't put too much pressure on yourself. I personally have no time frame as to when I will finish as long as it can be achieved.
You should be very proud of your self well done!!!!!!

I've seen a few taper off of Xanax directly with success. If it keeps on being trouble switch to Valium or Klonopin.

yea Mikey , definitely stay with us. You will have symptoms as you reduce, but the idea of reducing slowly should make them much more bearable.
try not to get too discouraged when you get them , its normal...

started 1.5 clonazopam 4/23.
reduced .25 per week each week for 3 weeeks starting 6/2
significant withdrawls after 3rd drop,
holding at .75mg. till beginning titration from here.
shrink had me add back in .25 mg. titration from here
7/27 down 10% .9 mg. to go.
8/08 down to .7mg. still cutting at 10% per week
8/11 .67
8/18 .57
8/23 .50 oh yea half way home
.40 and dropping as of 08/30
sept. 1st .37 and dropping
.29mg, sept. 7, still going ok
.20 mg. on 13th of sept.
.1 mg 20th of sept.
benzo free sept 26 2009 yippee

I just wanted to ask you if you have withdrawal symptoms. Sounds like a real slow taper and that's good, your lucky your Doctor is working with ... I'm going slow too. I am reducing down .25 mg every 2 weeks. I'm so scared I'm going to feel crazy side effects . But for now it's just knowing that I'm tapering is scaring me. Yes, I do have anxiety

Started xanax 1mg 3 x day / .5mg kolonpin 1 x day
First 1mg cut was the med day dose of xanax, second dose cut will be first dose of the day (xanax).
12-20-09 tapered .25mg xanax
1-02-10 tapered .25mg xanax
1-17-10 tapered .25mg xanax
1-31-10 tapered .25mg xanax / Down 1mg. Yeah!!

Mikey-
What do you need help with? A taper plan? If so, for anyone to help you & give you some type of guideline, we need to know what you are on(not sure if you switched to Klonopin from Xanax), the size tabs you have in mg's and how you dose now. Can you tell us this info? Is your doctor helping you & supporting your taper?
