The only suggestion I can make is that you discuss with your doctor whether or not you could reduce your dose by 0.125mg every two weeks, rather than 0.25mg every month, especially as your daily dose grows smaller, and these 0.25mg cuts begin to account for a larger proportion of your daily dose. If you do not have them already, you will need 0.5mg tablets (that you can quarter) to achieve cuts of 0.125mg.

I think the taper rate proposed by your doctor is very reasonable, and would be very managable by the vast majority of members. Indeed, many of members might even consider this taper quite conservative, especially in the first few months.

It seems that you have a doctor that understands how difficult benzodiazepine withdrawal can be on patients.

I think it is great that you have found a doctor that supports your taper.  That part is a big challenge for alot of us on benzo buddies.  Alot of docs want to take you off the medication too fast.  It looks like you have a reasonable taper, and Colin did make a great point about making .125 mg cuts, rather than .25 mg cuts.

Mikey, all we can do is give you guidelines based on our past experiences, as to when to take your drugs, and how to split them up.  (ie part in morning , part in afternoon, rest a night etc.)
Xanax has a short half life , which means the  body eliminates it rather quickly, so your brain wants to get its fix  sooner than when on a longer acting benzo like clonazopam, or one of the longest diazepam. 
Many actually switch to either clono, or diazepam for this reason.
I am not indicating this is necessary, since many of our buddies have successfully tapered directly off the xanax, but those that have ,usually find splitting their daily dose into thirds or quarters help the wd symptoms by keeping the drug more steadily available to the brain.   
Everyone is different and you will eventually find your best route thru trial and error , listening to your body and how it responds.
We will be here to support you thru the process.   Fortunately you seem to have a doctor that is aware of the possible withdrawl problems when you go too fast.
