I was on clonopin for 12 years. over the last few months I tapered to 0! Sure I felt symptoms at first and read some of the horror stories on here and it scared the crap out of me.

After around 3 weeks of heavy symptoms the light came on and I started feeling better. The worst I had was insomnia but then I eventually slept! All I have now is a numb tongue and I'm sure it will pass!!

Good luck and you will be fine!

I think my taper has gone well.  I'm getting ready to jump soon, but I'm nervous about it.

When it comes time, I'll just have to do it.

In the first few months of my taper, when I made a cut, I would always have nausea for about 3 days.  I used sea bands, and they helped so much with nausea.  Last few months, when making a cut, no nausea.  Mainly just insomnia.

Why don't you not think about it and just jump? I stepped off at .006 mg and it was a non event. Then I'll see you on celebrations!

It's so nice to read positive stories and tips from here!

Donna and others who have shared-a BIG thank you.

It's so important to be encouraged when tapering off these nasty meds.

I'm bumping this post. It's the only one I like😁

The happy ones are hard to find. That's why, when I find one, I stick with it. It's like a reprieve from life. BTW, how many animals do you have? :smitten: I love animals of all sorts. I have quite a few of them.

I have 2 dogs and a 5 month old kitten. Love my babies :smitten:

This is the only post I've felt good about. There should me more. I guess the people that have found the taper not so bad don't lurk on sites like this. There are some horror stories here. My new thing is I don't read any that sound bad from the subject line.

That's a good approach. But some titles intrigue me. But I do watch out for the HELP ME PLEASE ones. And I don't have any trigger points, but still, I have my three goldens and two sister cats who do nothing but eat, sleep and pee on the carpet. Stanley Steemer is rich because of us. :D I bet your kitty is so cute.

He's orange and so cute. Has a lot of energy. Last year I lost 2 cats to kidney dz. I was on a cat Crf forum trying to treat my cats. My dogs are great , party cocker and a terrier mix.

Doctor is having me do a faster taper then I originally wanted. This way I have less time to think of all this. Should update my profile. I'm on remeron now and down to 0.5. This cut was much better. I'm functioning now.

Maybe I'll just stay on this thread! Lol

Great thread! I don't know why these topics die off since so many of us could use encouragement! I had an easy taper but I think I tapered too fast and am suffering now after jumping, considering re-instating to a much slower taper.

Yes, update your sig so I can see your progress. I once had an orange tabby and he was great. My last and most favorite one was black and she was eaten by Coyotes. I cried for a week and still do even tho it's been four years. My poor poor Maggie! :'(

My pets cats and dogs do not go out without me. Cat does not go out at all. I live in FL. Too many critters to hurt them. That would be just to much anxiety for me to handle. Still could use Stanley steamer , pets make a mess!

My taper was definitely harder at the beginning, doing cut and hold.

Been far easier doing daily liquid taper.

I read posts here every day but don't feel the need to constantly post.

Read the benzo free celebrations and success stories, there are people posting who have only posted a few times during their entire taper.

I have cut out all sugar and coffee.

I eat a very clean fresh food diet. No processed crap.

I don't drink alcohol ( 4 years sober)

I walk 5 miles a day.

I function socialising etc

I meditate daily and anytime I feel sxs I go straight to my breathing and breath deeply and slowly.

My sxs are definitely getting less the lower I go.

Steer clear of the scare stories.

The clue is usually in their sig

Read this success story.

He only posted 20 times

Ours, 2 small dogs, travel with us in our RV.  They do create a mess, especially the Pomeranian.  Our Chihuahua is 15 years old.  They both love to travel or at least we think they do    I guess we don't give them much of a say in it.

We've decided these two will be our last.  Don't take this wrong, we love our dogs.  We are older and have had dogs all our lives, it's just time for us now.  We travel a lot and it's hard to sight see when you have pets.

Thanks JR

I guess there is something to not posting often if you aren't having problems but I think people need to know this can be done.  I don't post often because I can't help those with all the problems.  And when I do post....the thread stops!

Not this one

I wouldn't say my taper has been easy since it's my first taper off of a Benzo, Klonopin.  But since I CT'd for 8 days and reinstated, I've had Tinnitus and that's it.  I started at 1mg late June and the first few cuts I would have bad T and headaches a few days later.  Since I got to .5 the headaches stopped. At .45 I got a little fluish for s few days, but I felt much better after.  Now I microtaper, and I've feel that works better for me.  No drastic cuts and only T that waxes and wanes.  I should be off in a month, and that would make 3 months on and a 2.5 month taper.  Every time I try to go faster I get sxs.  At.34 cutting .01 per day I'm a month from off and have felt much better on lower dosages.  Good luck!

I've been tapering from 2 MG klonopin since March 2016.  Had been taking 2 MG for 7 years.  I read lots of research and personal experiences before getting courage to start taper.  I have taken a slow approach and I'm now down to .5 MG.  I have had very few symptoms.  I've been fully functional and haven't had sleeping problems and minimal anxiety.  Some breathing issues like many other people have experienced but it's tolerable.  I do a lot of therapeutic work to keep my mind from catastrophic thinking and obsessing.  So far I've learned to just trust my body.  When I cut back I do it in small increments especially now that I'm down to smaller doses.  I'm so hopeful now that I can be klonopin free.  I'm doing much better than I thought I would be.  I was so terrified to cut back.  There's no rush. Please trust that this can be done without horror and agony.  I'm doing it and you can too.  So far so good.  Will post again when I'm even closer.

lillybell your taper is impressive. looks like you were on 40 mg valium equivalent and dropped down 10 mg valium equivalent and you have done it in about six months. And you were on it for a long time. I've been reading this since i started six months ago and that is the fastest pace for a long term user i have seen (and it seems like your pace is reasonable for you too, without getting you too out of whack.)  for comparison, i was a long term user of temazepam 30 mg ( which equals 15 mg valium equivalent) and it has taken me six months to go through 15 mg valium equivalent (I'm now at about 1.5 mg val equivalent)

therefore it looks like you are almost going twice as fast as me without a lot worse symptoms. of course you might have a tougher time for the last bit, or not.

great job! whatever you are doing is working.  hopefully i will finish inside of a month around the same time as you.

I've had insomnia for a few days and am not happy about that, obviously but I do feel better at even just a 25% taper. On Tuesday I see the doc and will ask her to slow it down a bit. I go back to work next month and can't deal with insomnia :D
