Sounds like it was taken from the recording by Sir Colin Davis with the LSO. Very nice. One of those pieces everyone's heard but no one can name. It's also called the Rákóczi March, and it's also attributed to Liszt. The truth is, both Berlioz and Liszt stole it from wandering gypsies. Isn't it ironic? Don't ya think? [Yo...]
lol. Interesting. Read up on it on Wikipedia... It was also the unofficial state anthem of Hungary. It probably sounded like this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5qqv617G6vY

So you want me to troll the internet for a better performance of that? But yours does underscore the point that the music from Peer Gynt should always include the words. And Anitra's Dance should always be danced: Edited September 27, 2023 by [re...]

[Go...]
I don't know how to attach a link, but I these days I've really been loving Barber's Adagio for Strings. My emotions have felt muted during my taper and that piece really tugs at some strong "feels." P.S. I just figured out how to attach link

Guest [Le...]
Omigosh thanks, that’s a wonderful rendition of Ombra mai fu – I’m adding it to my pain-relief playlist now. I actually have a version of this on my Apple Music playlist, by the amazing contra tenor Franco Fagioli. Dang, am I having a benzo moment here? I think we may have discussed contra tenors on this thread before, as it’s feeling very déjà vu. Anyway, found this video of it on YouTube: Ombra Mai Fu Georg Friederich Händel Contra tenor: Franco Fagioli
