I've liked Philip Glass since my mid-teens. I almost went to see a performance of Akhnaten when it was first performed in London, but somehow didn't - I've never seen any of his operas (or any opera for that matter). Something I intend to rectify someday. I can't find a youtube video for the full Akhnaten opera:

But this the Glass opera I would have really liked to have seen (or see - I think it is performed from time-to-time) is:

Mozart's exultate jubilate is so beautiful

Wonderful! Fantastic find. Thanks, magnesi.

Here's a Wikipedia article about Julia Lezhneva.

How about an encore?

Deh Vieni Non Tardar
from Act IV of Le Nozze di Figaro
by W.A. Mozart & L. Daponte

Beautiful, the encore, thank you redevan! Julia Lezhneva has such an amazing voice. And she´s also so expressive, it's a pleasure to watch her sing.

For those interested, she's on tour through several European and Asian countries, and will also be in the USA in May: http://www.deccaclassics.com/en/artist/lezhneva/ontour

Thanks, magnesi. I'll have to see if she'll be anywhere near me.

I love being introduced to some new talent, don't you?

Well, new to me, at least.

Thanks for that.

I haven't seen either of these on stage,

but I've heard them. Very interesting -

in places even stunning.

Here's someone I think was

born to sing the role of Akhnaten.

I don't believe he's done it yet, but

he certainly looks the part, and he's

possibly the best counter-tenor around.

And here's someone who's often

considered the protégé of Philip Glass:

I discovered John Moran's opera

The Manson Family about 20 years ago.

I have it on CD, and a lot of it's on YouTube.

Very impressive music - by which I mean

the entire acoustic architecture - though

the subject matter is a bit morbid.

Then there's this 1985 collaboration
of Philip Glass with Robert Moran:

I'm still trying to understand

this strange attraction

of Morans to Glass.

Can I ask how people get the pictures onhre?

Do you have to save them in Flickr or something or is there an easier way these days?

I had no idea that any of us that like classical or opera still existed!  :yippee: Hooray!

This is one of the most beautiful breathtaking pieces I have ever heard...The afternoon of a faun.  It's a musical journey of the mind... peace and beauty, and great art!  :smitten:
