According to this abstract, those given propofol had better outcomes than those given benzodiazepines, muscle relaxants or other medications. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27312979 And in a related study called "The Relationship Between Sedatives, Sedative Strategy, and Healthcare-Associated Infection: A Systematic Review", the conclusions state that "infection rates appear to be highest with benzodiazepines, intermediate with propofol, and lowest with dexmedetomidine". http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27322888 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
