[La...]
There have been a number of celebrities who have died as a result of a combination of factors, and many of them had benzodiazepines in their systems at the time. I was reflecting on whether there was much attention given to the dangers of benzodiazepines -- especially in combination with other factors -- after those deaths. Does anyone remember hearing much after the deaths of Heath Ledger, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Whitney Houston or Anna Nicole Smith, for instance? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heath_Ledger#Death https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Seymour_Hoffman#Death_and_legacy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitney_Houston#Death https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Nicole_Smith#Death_and_funeral There was this excellent article in the Toronto Star after Whitney Houston died, which includes a reference to the Ashton Manual and the excruciating nature of withdrawal, but I don't know if the issue got much attention after that: https://www.thestar.com/life/health_wellness/2012/03/02/how_antianxiety_meds_are_killing_celebrities.html
[ho...]
Oh yes I remember them all... and if I remember correctly the emphasis was not on the benzos at all. Once again overlooked and glossed over like matter of fact. Seems to me somewhat of a discredit as to the seriousness of benzos....
[La...]
It's a chance to educate and inform that's completely lost. These celebrity deaths garner a lot of attention, but I guess no one is dying from benzos alone. It's always in combination with something else, and that other thing gets the focus. Does someone have to die of benzos alone before there's more attention given to the problem?

[Bl...]
I think profit margin is what manipulates information published by the media. That might sound too simplistic, but I would guess it’s actually a very complex subject that would shatter the average person’s core faith in just how ethically driven this whole process is starting from Point A to Point Z. It is almost uncanny how these drugs escape full exposure as to how dangerous they are. Somewhere between points A and Z these drugs become a mute concern. As a consequence, business as usual continues and no one is the wiser but the sufferer. Very sad.
