Ambien implicated in murder and two counts of attempted murder

A couple of days ago there was a murder and 2 counts of attempted murder on the island of Maui in Hawaii. A man walked into a grocery store and slit the throat of his estranged wife and then stabbed 2 people who attempted to come to her aid. I was just reading the paper and came across a follow-up article to the story. The man stated that he has no memory of his crime. He took 3 Ambien pills and later found himself in a police cell. Perhaps he is a lot smarter than his photo would leave you to believe and he is cooking up a story for his defense, or this is a pretty damning statement about the potential dangers of one of the most commonly prescribed drugs in America.

After posting this thread, I noticed that the reporter of the news story had an email contact listed. I emailed her suggesting that there is a potentially large background story regarding the dangers of Ambien for people who do not purposely seek to abuse it. Who knows, maybe she will bite and run with it. Need to get the news out to a wider audience somehow.

Another concern with ambien is the increased cases of suicide upon discontinuing. There was a case of the CEO of Hard Rock Casino, committed suicide and his family is suing blaming ambien. Also there was a NFL player committed suicide when he stopped ambien.

I believe him. I blacked out on ambien multiple times even though I took it as prescribed. I did very strange things. When I was told what I did, it didn't sound like me at all. One morning I awoke to find a convo with an ex where I apparently poured my heart out claiming I missed him. I did not miss this dude at ALL!!! Literally. I apparently hooked up with a friend of mine and have zero recollection and don't think I ever would have done that even if I had been blackout drunk. Blackout drunk I've done some things I regret, yet I never looked back thinking I completely wasn't myself. Ambien, on the other hand, made me have a completely different personality and thoughts. Ambien scares the shit out of me. I LITERALLY was a different person on ambien. Thank god I wasn't a different and murderous person. I think ambien should be 100% illegal. I used to wake up thinking I had a weird dream when in reality I was having flashbacks of what actually occurred while I was on it. Finally I realized they weren't dreams and told my psych ambien is the devil and I'll never take it again. I told a massage therapist who was studying to be a therapist about it, and she said she had heard many similar stories before and suspected that we were just being used as guinea pigs by the government. Conspiracy theory, sure, but honestly it's not completely unrealistic.

I had a 30 min. phone conversation with my wife once when I was out of town for work and had zero memory of it. I took ambien and she called me before I fell asleep. Also, my doctor once told me about a pretty respected person he knew that was once arrested for taking a nighttime walk through his neighborhood with no cloths on after taking ambien.
