A couple of years ago, I read the full study on the withdrawal of benzos in the geriatric day hospital and was quite impressed by it. What struck me, though, is that the people involved in the study had a team of support people, which is almost unheard of for the rest of us. It worked very well, of course, and it was heartening to see that no matter the age, people could still get off benzos and do quite well.

On the other hand, there weren't any stories of difficult withdrawals, so I'm not sure that it accurately reflects what some people experience. As we all know, there's a percentage of people who have no trouble coming off benzos, and there's another group that has a hell of a time doing so. Most of us here on BB fit into the latter group.
