Titration help

Hi, I am currently on 6.5mg of Diazepam (tapering 0.5 every 9-13 days). I am tapering from 40-60 mg of valium for more than 6 years, my question is...what is a titration method how is it done? I am scared to go down below 4mg with just a 0.5mg taper of valium because the reduction percentage becomes too much. My concern is that and my question, how is titration performed, examples? How is it measured and set up? I have seen examples on youtube but I am still confused as far as how the process goes. Also need help on tapering Gabapentin, have been on 3,200mg every day for 6 years. I feel like that will be a problem as well. I am very scared and my doctor treats these pills as if they were candy, he gives me loads of doses and takes them away as if withdrawal does not exist and he gets mad if I properly taper because that's not what HE said. Thanks all.

First of all, congratulations on bringing your dose down so low. That's an amazing achievement. As you have now probably found, continuing a cut and hold taper gets a lot harder on the lower doses, so most people on BB usually end up going to some kind of daily taper after they hit about 10mg.

The most popular form of daily taper is the liquid daily taper, or titration. It's very easy. It just means making a liquid form of 1mg of your overall dose, and then taking the rest of your dose as dry tablets.

The most common ways of titration are using full fat milk, prescription liquid valium, or a very small amount of vodka (usually 2ml per 1mg valium) and then topping up with water. The amount of liquid you use is a personal choice. Some people just use 10ml, but I prefer 100ml because it makes a less concentrated liquid, making measuring very easy.

Once you have this liquefied 1mg it is then just a process of making very small reductions on a daily basis to make the tapering process much easier.

Take a look at the first two links I have in my signature below. The first one is the main procedure, using liquid valium or milk, and the second link is additional information if you would like to try vodka. I've used all three methods, but my personal preference is the vodka. The thought of using alcohol often puts people off, but you are using such a tiny amount of vodka (less than half a teaspoon) that it wouldn't affect you.
