I have a feeling that he was suffering from drug side effects.

I think so too. I had gone through a bad bout of very blurry vision during my taper...

I've had periodic bad eye issues during tapering and also post-taper. For a pilot to have problems with the eyes is a reason for the pilot to be fired, I would think. 

God knows how long this man has been going through tolerance wd,

clueless how this crap can affect your eyes etc.

its a tragedy......this poison destroys people's Life and nothing is

being done about it.. >

I agree, Morreweg. How can doctors still be so clueless about the terrible side effects of drugs? It's like the elephant in the room that they continue to ignore or don't see. Very sad.  :'(
