[li...]
Just something to read about benzos: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/why-arent-benzodiazepines-taken-seriously-in-this-country.1086927/ Not sure if this is the right place.
[pi...]
Very interesting read. I think this comment is very appropriate: With chronic benzo prescribing, problem is not solved. It's more like problem is kicked down the road and will be encountered again, likely worse.
[Te...]
Thanks for this, liberty! This is very interesting. The comments are going to take me awhile to read, but I'm really interested in what is said here. One commenter mentioned that, "From my experience, its mostly Family/IM docs that have inappropriate benzo prescribing techniques. Its not their fault, its just the training is not really heavy in that area for them." Well, saying that "it's not their fault" for decade after decade - more than 5 decades now - isn't valid any longer. Doctors need to be given a solid course on the long-lasting deleterious side effects of these drugs and ought to do some research on their own before prescribing a benzo drug. At some point I believe that doctors are going to be carefully monitored when it comes to writing out prescriptions for benzos.
