April 2015 Study: Trends in prescribing opioids and sedatives for pain

This American study looks at "Trends in opioid prescribing and co-prescribing of sedative hypnotics for acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain: 2001-2010."

The combination of these two types of medications is considered risky, since both can depress the central nervous system, resulting in dizziness, drowsiness, respiratory depression, etc.
