This is disappointing news out of Ireland, a place where a special report was created (in 2002, if I'm not mistaken) to address issues of benzodiazepine prescribing. It had progressive recommendations aimed at reducing use and offering alternatives to medications. It looks like things haven't gone as well as hoped.

 

Here's the main quote:

 

"The findings suggest that little progress has been made in improving the prescribing of benzodiazepines and Z-drugs in Ireland in the decade since publication of the Benzodiazepine Committee's report."
