The suit (also) alleges in a section entitled "facts" that Brockman was using benzodiazepines at the time of the shooting. Benzodiazepines are commonly used to treat anxiety and depression.

According to the lawsuit, the Boone County Sheriff's Office's practice of permitting officers to use benzodiazepines was a contributing factor in the events that led to Ramsey's death.
