Clonezapam may be suspended in European Union

Hello, this is my first post to the site. This is a great site. I have a family member who use to be a Toxicologist for a major US drug company and he sent me the below link, article, about Clonezapam potentially being suspended in Europe.

Here is the link. http://www.madinamerica.com/2015/01/european-medicines-agency-calls-suspending-four-common-psychiatric-drugs/

Looks like there could have been some tampering of clinical trial records by the manufacture who produces the generic version of Klonopin.

No, that is not what this is about.  This has nothing to do with drug manufacturers or any one particular drug.  It centers around a testing lab in India that a bunch of different pharmaceutical companies sent a bunch of different drugs to for testing.

This Wall Street Journal article explains it much better than MiA did;

I can't see that WSJ article because it's behind a pay wall.

This seems to be the full list from the European Medicines Agency but their web site is down at the moment.  http://www.ema.europa.eu/docs/en_GB/document_library/Other/2015/01/WC500180894.pdf

In the mean time, the following link gives Google's cached version of that document.

I believe the gist is that this drug, and many others, were studied at a lab in India. And the data from these studies may have been intentionally altered by the Indian facility. As a result, Clonazepam and many generic versions of other drugs, are in consideration by the EU to be suspended from use in Europe. I don't know if this impacts the Brand name labels, but at least this is a step towards better evaluation of data provided by drug companies.

Thanks, Ryder

Thank you, Ryder, for your explanation! I would certainly like to find out what happens in the future concerning the EU and this drug.
