While those of us here are quite familiar with the negative aspects of benzodiazepines, the following study looks at the benefits and "insights into diverse brain functions" that the discovery of benzodiazepine receptors has brought about. It's called "The legacy of the benzodiazepine receptor: from flumazenil to enhancing cognition in down syndrome and social interaction in autism."
