new drug being pushed

its why i hate watching tv. i wonder how many ppl will be calling Dr tomorrow

 

it said in commercial it controls part of y our brain to make you feel full.

 

its almost summer so guess they will prey on ppl need to look good in bikinis, etc. the side effects were pretty alarming, too.

 

do any of you get upset by these long drug commercials?

What I do not understand why there is not a 'grass roots' effort..or a petition calling for banning pharmaceutical 'recipes' that are known to have devastating side effects...

 

Remember the Marlboro Men...well, they are riding through our televisions sets. 

 

And why are alcohol commercials are allowed with the number of alcoholics and dui arrests endangering us..???????????????

By the time they get finished listing the deadly side-effects of the drug, I forget what is was supposed to be used for. I only know that I don't want it!

 

I should still ask my doctor if it's right for me, though.

They're actually trying to get the FDA here to allow them to only list the major side effects on tv commercials now cause the list is so long and people don't pay attention to them.

That doesn't surprise me.  They have the money to get it done. Pretty sad.

. . . because the list is so long, the ads are getting too damn expensive and eating into their profits!

      It's insane.

i dont know if trying a new drug is a good idea , i would rather take an old drug thats been on the market a long time with alot of research and feedback on it to give others a heads up

When my doc switched me from Klonopin to Valium, he said, "Valium is safe. It's been around a long time. I have patients who have been on it for 20 years."

Yeah that is what the Dr said about Klonopin!  RIGHT!!  Look at where I am now!

i actually had to quit watching tv. thrse commercials pushing drugs upset me. there are drugs to quit cigs then now his, one that alters your brain to make you feel full. there was also one to take if your anti depressant didnt work!

i just got thru a virus/cold and didnt even take any cough meds. i actally got thru it ok. i ate fresh pineapple.i look at meds now in more cautious menner.

After all the polydrugging I think I am sensitive to many chemicals.  Will have to bear with the w/d s/xs without any meds to help.  This taper is taking forever.  I tried taking 1mg cut, too big, so went back to .5 cut.  I still feel it.  I didn't think I could feel worse, but the brain is foggier!

I know i can't watch them anymore, I cringe every time they come on.  I usually turn the channel! 

It's about big bucks.

 

If they think they can make a good buck off it... they will push it.

With Benzos, the aim is to get one hooked, so they can keep coming back. It doesn't matter how they pay. Insurance, cash... it's all the same to them. $$$

People should go to the dr with problems only, without corporate bias.....the DOCTOR should have up to date drug knowledge and suggest a drug, if (s)he thinks its a good fit.

 

2) i am so SICK of all the cheesy viagra/cealis commercials, with the stupid innuendos, the guy smiling like he's glad to talk about his ED, and comments like, "cealis let's you get going whenever the moment strikes...." COME ON. This is SO AWKWARD when you're like, sitting with your dad watching tv.

For new drugs, before they go generic, doctors get kickbacks for every prescription written.

It bothers me so much!!!!

Where I'm from, we don't have med commercials and I was so surprised about them when I moved to the USA.

And then the 7 minute list of side effects and whatnot. It's ridiculous !

 

Not only that, but when I was in acute Wd , I got so freaking  paranoid about them!

I've been misdiagnosed with all sorts of stuff, before I realized it was all just good plain old benzo withdrawal., including bipolar disorder.

My pdoc took my waves/ windows and depression and confusement for manic and depressed periods.

EACH time I was able to watch tv for a moment, a commercial for some bipolar med was on.

It made me nuts, doubting everything. I kept hearing the words of my pdoc looping in my screwed up brain...just crazy

 

I'm in a fairly okay place right now. But I still HATE those commercials.

 

 

When I was in nursing school o so long ago I had a bumper sticker that said 'Health care is a RIGHT, not a privilege'  Making money on people's misery is just wrong.
