[He...]
Hey flippy.... Congratulations! Glad to hear you are all graduated & working on getting licensed. Do you find it rewarding helping those drug addicts? I went & read that new MTHFR thread. I think I want to be tested for this. I just read another article that says 1/2 the population carries a mutation of this gene. Which mutation do you have? Hey, sorry you are still feeling those old nasty symptoms again damn girl...does it ever go away... Hey hey Jackie Brown..... How you feeling these days. I read a few weels ago you were in that aweful wave has it lifted yet? I will go visit your blog soon..don't wanna hijack flippy's blog she may kick my arse... What does a MTHFR gene mutation cause? [Fl...]
Hellbutrin - putting a thread link here to the MTHFR support. There’s a great article link there. http://www.benzobuddies.org/forum/index.php?topic=194231.0 I can’t say for sure when sx started lifting but I do know I got slowly better after I took my last dose. That was a bit over 5 years ago. Jackie - hey good to “see” you. And good for your daughter! It’s a very rewarding field. Bella - I am homozygous C677T. Apparently about 7% of population is. I haven’t been tested for everything. I think it could explain a few things. Now just need to figure out what to do next. The people here are among the kindest, smartest, most helpful of any people I have ever met and it was a natural place to come back to for assistance. And no “arse kickin” happening here. 🤣
[ni...]
Hi Fliprain, what an inspiration you are! Thanks for sharing your journey. I was also diagnosed with Dupuytren's disease some years after I was prescribed clonazepam. I may be related to the Vikings, but I'd rather pass on the disease. Anyway, after you wrote that yours was getting better, I looked at my poor hand and the cords have mostly flattened out or disappeared! I could not believe my eyes!! Keep posting! [Fl...]
That’s great news Nitengale! Mine is still there, but as you said, “flattened”.
[ni...]
Flip, I am guessing my cords are still there, but can only see/feel one and part of another. I had surgery on the cord between my thumb and index finger, so have a knotted scar there. Another hand specialist said to not have surgery, except if my hands started to constrict. They have not, thus far. I never thought this would go away, nor did I think this all may be a side effect of Benzos. Who would have thought! [ga...]
Hi Flip. I found you by searching for Dupuytren's contracture and see that you had it, as well as nightingale. I have just discovered two nodules on my left palm below my ring finger and am pretty sure it's early stages of Duputtren's. I am 3.5 months off of benzos and having mostly mental symptoms with the exception of insomnia, tinnitus, and now this new problem. I think it must be benzo related as no one in my family had it and it's odd that it popped up post-benzo taper. I don't have any pain or contraction yet, but am wondering if I should see my internist about getting it treated while in early stages. Did yours improve on its own without treatment? I'd like to know more about this odd condition. I've been thankful that I seem to have escaped the terrible muscle symptoms that so many in withdrawal suffer from, but perhaps I haven't escaped after all now that I've found these nodules. I'm so glad you are better. Congrats on being a victorious benzo warrior!!

I called the genesite place and he said it's nothing I need to be concerned about. It just means I may metabolize medicines different.nhe said 40% of people have it. [Br...]
Dear Flip, Your great story was translated and shared in Japan, which is encouraging Japanese benzo fighter. [ni...]
gardenlady, I would certainly get your hand checked out by a specialist. A few weeks ago, I noticed a lump coming up in my left hand where none had been before. I was bummed. I made an appointment with the hand specialist. He thought the lump/nodule would calm down and flatten out, but it has not. I might give it a little longer, if I can deal with the pain when I try to grasp something. At least it is in my left hand. I wish there was some "magic pill" to take that would fix all of this, but alas, life is not that way. Keep us posted.
[Fl...]
It’s seven whole years now and life keeps being good. Still have tinnitus but it’s not bad at all. Feeling food. Licensed as LPC 30 days after turning 65. Crazy! I’m so, so glad I did it. Love the work. Love sitting with people who are hurting. Keep going everyone. [ja...]
Congratulations Flip! 7 years! Yayyyyyyyy! I know you feel so happy about this. Wonderful the life you have now and your licensed too. I’m so happy for you Flip. Remember I told you about my daughter going back to school to be a therapist. She graduated with her Masters in social work and is working for a Community college as their therapist now and studying for her licensure. She studied trauma therapy. It was a long haul but she did it. I felt like I was back in school just being around her, helping her study and such. Anyway I’m proud of you! Love, Jackie :smitten:

You just be SOOO proud! Social work was a great choice because she will be able to bill Medicaid. I can’t with my licensure. If I had known that ahead of time, I would have gone the social work route because my favorite client is over 65. You good? ❤️

[iw...]
Can you explain how your tinnitus is now compared to the beginning? It has always been my worst symptom, and I'm so afraid it will never go away. I won't consider myself healed unless it disappears completely because I never had it before benzo withdrawal. [Fl...]
Can you explain how your tinnitus is now compared to the beginning? It has always been my worst symptom, and I'm so afraid it will never go away. I won't consider myself healed unless it disappears completely because I never had it before benzo withdrawal. If it was a 10 before, it is a 2-3 now. Sometimes I don’t even notice it. I suppose part of that is just getting used to it, but whereas before it was enough to keep me awake, now I have to listen closely at times to even hear it. I don’t mind really, just like I don’t really mind that I can’t drink alcohol now, when I could before. Some things have changed. There are definitely scars. But I know more. I appreciate more. In odd ways,I’m almost grateful for the experience of benzos because my life changed dramatically for the better as I healed because my motivation and intention changed. I do understand that you want your old normal back completely. I hope you get it!
