Valium reduction by 0.09mg too fast?

I am trying to reduce 2mg Valium as I updosed and need to come back down

I take 14mg now .

My doc told me to reduce 0.008gm which is 0.09mg every 5 days and comes out to about 5.4mg reduction per month is this tolerable and not too much ?

Really needing help .

Was also considering water/alcohol taper which may be easier .

Any help would be appreciated

Can you check the math with your doctor?

0.008 is 0.04 every 5 days = 0.24 reduction every 30 days

0.08 is 0.4 every 5 days = 2.4 reduction every 30 days

Here is what he gave me and the chemist was about equal. Reducing dry every 5 days by 0.008gm .

So let’s say tab is 0.170gm then at 5 days it goes to 0.162 gms , then 0.154gms etc

2mg pill weighs 0.170g

0.5mg pill weighs 0.0425g

So you need to reduce by at least 0.0425g per 30 days.

0.0425 divided by 30 is 0.0014167g which would be difficult to weigh.

So suggest that you decrease by 0.008g every 5 days.

Over the 30 days you would reduce by 0.048g which is 0.5647mg

This is what he gave me and the chemist was the same .

I take 14mg daily . So you have to take that into consideration is what they both said not just the 2 mg as I will still be taking 12 mgs.

Here is from Chemist .

0.094 mg Valium÷ 14 mg Valium x 100 =0.67% of 14 mg Valium. Every 5 days, so multiply by 6 = 4% this month . Next month will be 4% × 14= 13.5 mg. Then .094÷13.5 ×100= .7% x 6=4.2 %.  You are at a good pace.

There are 2 ways of  looking at this

170 mg = 0.170 mg of pill 0.170 mg = 2 mg of Valium 0.170mg÷2=0.085 0.085 mg = 1mg Valium 0.008 gm = 8 mg  of pill 0.008 gm of pill = 0.094 mg Valium Or

0.170 mg pill÷ 0.008 mg pill= 21.25 2 mg Valium ÷ 21.25 = 0.094 mg Valium

Ahhh, I see where I misread it.

Still, I’ll let someone else reply with a better grasp on the math involved to answer your question. A bit of benzo brain here.

While you’re waiting, take a look at this simple water taper video, if you haven’t already seen it.

You would water taper from one 2mg tablet at a time and take the remainder of your daily dose in tablet form.

Yes my other option was water taper and seems so much easier too .

I actually contacted her and it that video she said no alcohol but now she says to put a couple of drops on it .

The dropping of 0.09mg every five days seems too fast but I will make a decision very soon .

So when I work out your 0.09mg every 5 days x 6 (30 days), it works out to 0.54mg, which is quite reasonable.
