Confused about Dry Taper

I bought a scale off Amazon and I'm trying to do a dry taper but I'm confused about how to do it accurately.

 

I weighed my 0.5mg ativan pill on the scale and it weighs 0.47mg. I want to reduce my dose by 5 percent each week. What math would I use to do that? And what method would I use to reduce my pill? Would I shave off part of my pill or crush it into powde and then weigh it? Thanks.

Hereforhelp's posts are where I got the Math help, try to ignore my confusion, but I finally got it in the end:)

 

I am doing a dry cut on using a small scale and the cutting is a bit hard for me with the tremor I have, but it's weighing out fine for me.  I'll eventually have to do powder but don't know how those tiny bits will weigh out.  I'm only starting out as well and can relate to the confusion, absolutely.  Welcome and glad you are here, Denise
