How do you go about your taper when you hit tolerance wd?
« on: February 04, 2023, 02:02:54 pm »
Hello dear benzobuddies,

I have reinstated 5mg Valium almost 2 months ago, with the idea to do a slow, symptom-based taper. Unfortunately, holding in hopes of stabilizing only made my wd symptoms worse. So, I am thinking maybe to do a scheduled taper, where I cut 5% of the previous dose every two weeks.

Does anybody know if this is a good idea?

Hi [...],

I cannot hold and stabilize, so I understand what you're dealing with. 5% is a great starting point. If you handle that very well, you may consider increasing slightly and finding what rate works for you. You definitely do not want to go to slowly, but we all know too fast is bad too.

Hi [...],

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post. It means the world to me, as I couldn't find a lot info on what to do in our situation. At least you have some experience to guide me, it puts me (somewhat) at ease.  :)

Wish you well and continuous improvement on your healing journey!

You're very welcome, [...]. I'm wishing you the best as you move down in dose. Try to trust your body, but don't get stuck going too slow. Thanks for your good wishes. I'm so ready to be off this stuff.
