In 1992 at La Scala in Milan, conductor Riccardo Muti rehearses
tenor Roberto Alagna and soprano Tiziana Fabbricini for a duet from
Verdi's La Traviata, Parigi O Cara. I'm not really sure I like what Muti
did with this, but it's still an interesting historical document.

I've cued this video to skip a rather long introduction in Italian by
Alessandro Baricco. But don't worry. You'll get to see him at the end.

Keep in mind that the soprano's character, Violetta Valery, is dying in
this scene, which is why the soprano sounds like - well, like she's dying.

One of my favorite operas.

This is a 1982 Italian film directed by
Jean-Pierre Ponnelle and starring
Ingvar Wixell, Edita Gruberová and
Luciano Pavarotti, with the music score
conducted by Riccardo Chailly, based on
the 1851 opera by Giuseppe Verdi with
libretto by Francesco Maria Piave.

Here's a Wikipedia article about this film.

This vid was posted on YouTube in 2017,
