Share Songs that Motivate and Talk to You
« on: July 30, 2014, 03:56:14 pm »
Today I'm celebrating my jump day!   :o

I've been compiling a YouTube playlist of songs that really speak to me during these difficult times.  I play them regularly and listen closely to the words.  They help lift me up during those wound-licking days, and motivate me to get up and do more.

Maybe they can help you too.  Do you have any special songs you'd care to share?  Help me grow my playlist and let's all start our days off feeling comforted, motivated and inspired.

I'll start with my first ...

Shania Twain "Today is Your Day"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMciyWyugKY

"You've got what it takes, you can win
Today is your day to begin
Don't give up here, don't you quit
The moment is now, this is it
Know that you can, then you will
Get to the top of the hill ..."

Hi [...]

The words of that song are so good.  I like "Climb Every Mountain" which comes from the film The Sound of Music". Very old film now!!!

Oh cool, thanks guys!  Labi Siffre, wow, what a voice (hadn't heard of him before).

And my contribution for today is ...

"Ooh Child" - The Chi-Lites
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DHRGrIqmb0

"Ooh Child, things are gonna get easier
Ooh Child, things will get brighter
Some day, we'll put it together and we'll get it undone
Some day, when your head is much lighter
Some day, we'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
Some day, when the world is much brighter"

Another great version by Hall & Oates

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RY0uS6KPRc

"Some day, we'll put together what was coming undone
Some day, we'll tie it all tighter
Some day, we can lay in the rays of a beautiful sun
Some day, the sky will be brighter"

Thanks, [...], I couldn't find the Logan song though.

And now the classic from the two divas.  Beautiful, beautiful video too!

"When You Believe" - Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston (RIP)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csu9ym9JdpU

"They don't always happen when you ask
And it's easy to give in to your fears
But when you're blinded by your pain
Can't see your way clear through the rain
A small, but still, resilient voice
Says help is very near

Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe
Somehow you will
You will, when you believe"

Ooh, now I'm really dating myself!   :P

"The Morning After" - Maureen McGovern
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KClpLzFftU

"There's got to be a morning after
If we can hold on through the night
We have a chance to find the sunshine
Let's keep on looking for the light ...

"Oh, can't you see the morning after
It's waiting right outside the storm ...

"We're moving closer to the shore
I know we'll be there by tomorrow
And we'll escape the darkness
We won't be searching any more ..."
