Can I take Valium for gum surgery?

Hi guys Its been a long time since I have been here.I was cold turkeyed 7 yrs ago off Valium and experienced a horrible withdrawal for 3 yrs. Withdrawal from that is over thank goodness but now still having symptoms from tapering Remeron a year ago. Anyway i have periodontal disease and have to have laser gum surgery and my doctor wants to sedate me with Valium!! Would it be OK for me to have one dose of Valium or is that going to mess me up and send me into some sort of withdrawal?

I took a benzo many years after my recovery for a medical test and did just fine, no symptoms.  I'm not sure if your recent Remeron withdrawal would be a factor if you decided to take the Valium though.

Thanks Pamster! Yeah the Remeron withdrawal is definately a concern.If I took the Valium could it ramp up my withdrawal symptoms or set back my recovery?

My dentist calls in one ativan pill to the pharmacy each time I go.  I have terrible dental phobia.  It has never caused me any problems.
