Month 38 and I still have anhedonia.

If you know of a success story that lasted longer than my current number, I'd love to read it.

I have no motivation to do anything. I don't work and I'm just at home.

Hi there @[...],
I know how scary it is to be so far into a symptom and to not know if anyone else had it as long. In this thread, the user boombox said their anhedonia lifted by about year three.

I know that you're at month 38. If you want to PM me and tell me more about your symptoms, I feel confident that i'll be able to help you identify some reassurance that will sit right with you and your specific situation/symptoms. That's what truly matters.

Thank you for sharing your valuable insights. The way you wrote the reassurances are so so important reminders for many. The benzo voice is so convincing and feels real, it is easy to forget what the reality is.

Wishing you continued healing. It must feel like a rebirth to be able to enjoy this precious life.

It absolutely is a rebirth. I have been saying that my new birthday is January 12. Thanks for your feedback on my success story. Yes, the benzo voice feels so real—after all, it comes in the form of our voice and we easily think that if it comes from our brain, it must be true/real, right? But it is not. It is a faulty brain. Not just because it's been injured, but because even the normal healthy brain is, at the end of the day, a computer. It does thousands of tasks simultaneously in any given moment, it has to rely on shortcuts to stay efficient and this makes it so vulnerable to bugs and errors. Even the healthiest minds have distorted thinking.
Wherever you are in your journey, I wish you continued health and healing as well.

Hi,

How do I know it is Anhedonia and not severe depression?

I sometimes just stare at the tv or keep switching youtube channels and not really enjoying it. I love music but it is somewhat dull right now.

I came off 3 months use of low dose Xanax and now on an antidepressant.

Thanks.
