Lyrica?

I hope some buddies can chime in on this as I am too interested in hearing more;  my doc wants to put me on pregabalin to help with the pains, at least until some specialist figures this out. Now .. I am aware of the horror stories around pregabalin. So, while I got the script and pills, and I held off on popping them just yet. Not sure for how much longer as I am getting even more symptoms/disabled and physical condition does not seem to get any better. :'(

I’m trying a micro dose in liquid from. For the physical pain, to help heal my nerve endings, prevent future migraines and obviously, the unrelenting anxiety.

At such a low dose I am not concerned about serious side effects or w/d per se, just praying it works, any improvement-just any-would be a blessing. A miracle, actually!

Please report back after you take it. I will too!!

Anyone else with experience here??????!!!!

BTW, for anyone interested, the user reviews on drugs.com have almost all saying they had previously been on benzos and this was a life changer? 🤞🤞🤞

But I want to be clear: My opinion, based on my experience and that of many other members over the years, is that you are almost always better off just staying away from other drugs and supplements. Just let your body heal naturally.

Thank you. I, however, completely disagree. There are FDA approved medications prescribed to millions of individuals annually. Some specifically target our w/d symptoms: chemical anxiety, nerve damage, insomnia, nausea; migraines, fibromyalgia ad infinum.

Yes, the body has an amazing ability to heal, but-IMO-sometimes it csn use help.

Additionally, psychologically? I cannot and will not wait a year, 2, for it to do so. I have a full life to live, friends patiently waiting for me.

If I find something to move along this process, calm my struggling body; aid in my overall well-being being? Yes. Yes, yes, yes-I will try it. And I will try something else if that doesn’t work for me.

I admire so many on this forum who push through this brutal suffering with faith, tenacity and perseverance without aid from supplements, medication in all colors; therapists, psychiatrists.

I am not 1 of this people. I’ve said this before here: Stillness without action is complacency. I will take action daily to help me.

I take Gabapentin 800mgs 3X a day, a hefty dose.  I have for a long time, even before benzos. It’s similar to Lyrica and it seems to help me with anxiety. Lyrica in my opinion works even better because it’s stronger. If you feel like you need help then try it out and taper slowly after you’ve recovered from benzos. You’ll be alright.

Thank you Paulie. One thing I have noticed during this brutal process is how vulnerable it makes you. And extremely impressionable.

Your comment helped me and gave me confidence in my decision to try Lyrica. I think that’s what we’re all looking for-support when so much seems to be falling apart.

I’ll report back!! 🙏

Of course. Just keep in mind in many countries it is a controlled substance and does carry the risk of dependency. If that is a concern of yours then start at the lowest possible dose, consider using it PRN only, or consider gabapentin instead (which also carries dependency but slightly lower). If the medicine doesn’t agree with you then don’t continue.

Well, that was futile. My insurance will not cover it. She suggested Topomax, Amitriptyline-god bless her heart. I mean that as my pdoc is working overtime researching possibilities.

Just stayed in bed for 14 hours completely defeated heading into my 6th month. 😢😢😢

sorry to hear about this bummer. Buy Lyrica also comes as a generic - pregabalin.  Is your insurance not covering that either? how about gabapentin which is similar, though?

As you might know Amitriptyline is an AD which might help a bit with some of the symptoms, but its mechanism and effect are nowhere near pregabalin or gabapentin .

I have an order for amitryp. I wish I could get the nerve to take it. I’ve heard great amazing things and I’ve heard legit horror stories.

I wouldn't take it, seems too closely related to benzos, and tolerance can develop quickly.

Even the name "Lyrica" gives me the heebie jeebies.  Sounds like something out of 1984, by George Orwell.

I'm not advising what to do.  We all do what we want in the end.

Mary1: Just wanted to report that I have been trying Lyrica - very small starting dosage of 25MG, for four days now. Initially I took it with Trazodone together and had a very bad reaction - mild serotonin syndrome although it says that these drugs should not interact with each other. Then I separated these medications taking them six hours apart; I had some weird twitching the second time around, but then everything settled. I have somewhat less  nerve pain and it definitely reduces the anxiety and gives an overall calm feeling. It did not touch things like muscle pain or muscle fatigue which is very bothering for me. I am not sure if it will be helping with that when increasing the dosage further or with time. Plan is to keep on with this dosage and then add another extra 25 milligrams next week and see how it goes.

I believe that when trying some new stuff like you have been trying lately, it's good to give it several days before drawing definite conclusions on whether or not it's helping, and try not to take together with other medications which might be interfering with.
