Update on PETITION FDA2010-P-0091 (oops!)

Last week I reported that onlt 75 peeps had signed this FDA petition that (among other things) asks for better labeling on Benzos.

Im Happy to report that I was mistaken. I only noted those which are publicly visible. There are actually about 400!

With absolute confidence I can state the petition is still open for

comment.  We

strongly encourage people to have their say while they still have the

opportunity.  All the links to comment on the petition are at the bottom

of my website at  www.benzosupport.org. 

You can tell people the FDA is in the process of evaluating this

petition and

it is being taken very seriously.  There is a lot of information for the

FDA to consider and a lot of departments to coordinate on this, so it is

taking some time.

The FDA is taking the public comments very seriously and  reads each one

as they come in.  They have received a good number of comments so far

(about 400 to date).  That said, a few of the comments were

very angry ones, which, of course, we understand all too well.  However,

our cause would be

best served by factual, well-reasoned comments from those who have been

harmed by benzo's. 

The FDA would like to see more comments, particularly from people who

were less than long-term users. While the FDA has been impressed by the

number of comments received, we all have wondered why there hasn't been

more participation from the various groups, given the large number of

people harmed by benzo use. 

I think the requests in this petition do have a very good chance of

being enacted with a little help  from  everyone who has been negatively

affected by benzodiazepines, and we do greatly appreciate everyone's

support and efforts.

Thanks for posting this.  It takes just a few minutes.  I wish more people would take the time.  Simply emptying the boat of water will not keep it afloat, the hole needs to be plugged.
