A Guide to Benzo Withdrawal

So some more news out of the UK regarding our cause.

This is a letter written by John Perrot of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Involuntary Tranquilizer Addiction in collaboration with Heather Ashton.  It serves as a short one page understanding of Benzo withdrawal.  In my opinion, it is the perfect length for distribution to Psychiatrists and GPs for their understanding of your personal situations.

Here is an excerpt of strong significance.  One of the most important aspects of withdrawal is having a doctor that understands it.  While there is a list of "Benzo Wise" Doctors, we hope others will join in order to make one accessable to everyone. Remember this was written by an MP with oversight from one of the best minds on the subject.

"There is no avoidance of these when tapering and additional medication is rarely of any use; these symptoms simply have to be endured and this is why the reassurance, support and advice given by the current withdrawal charities are crucial to recovery. Doctors often misdiagnose these as "new" symptoms and "treat" them with further medication, thus compounding the problem and causing further addiction to other benzodiazepines, SSRIs or antidepressants. "

Thanks for posting this Christopher. It's a great idea to bring something like this to a doctor/medical provider. It can be hard to get something across to them about tapering and/or withdrawal symptoms and showing them info can really help back you up and validate what's going on is real.
