what has been your experience with melatonin as a sleep aid?  has it exasperated symptoms or a wave? Right now i am taking Night time Tylenol but know that's not a good solution, and am thinking of trying melatonin. the only thing is i dont want to trigger more symptoms with the switch from tylenol night time to melatonin.

looking for other people's experience with melatonin

I take 1 mg and I don’t really know if it helps but it does not hurt.  From my reading, a lower dose is recommended for most people.

I have RLS so I have a compounded sleep issue. My RLS is severe; it's called Recalcitrant RLS. It's in my family.

So the meds I take for RLS can be alerting. Add benzo withdrawal symptoms, and I should be a huge nighttime mess, but I'm not. The meds stop the RLS. I went for four months to a sleep hygiene specialist and I listened and did as told. Sleep isn't awful now.

That said, I do take Melatonin or a Charlotte's Web CBD Calm gummy some evenings. I NEVER take more than 1 mg of Melatonin. I have no idea why they're selling up to 10 mg pills these days, but I believe it's a mistake to overuse this fundamental element. Your body creates some anyway, so overdosing throws your own melatonin-making into disarray.

I take 1 mg Melatonin some nights. Some nights I eat a CBD Calm gummy. Some nights I don't use any. Other nights I use both! But it definitely is helpful. I recommend using a low dose judiciously.

I take it when I realize I can't easily sleep. Inevitably I lay down in bed and think, "I'm not going to be able to sleep, I'm too awake," and that's about the last thing I remember.

Good luck!

I use melatonin often but not daily and it works for me. A 1mg extended release melatonin works wonders. Our bodies produce melatonin already, this is just a boost.

Hope this helps.

I take 10mg every night which is a really high dose, but I haven’t noticed any ill effects from it.  5mg just wasn’t cutting it for me.

Same here...I take 7mg of melatonin and it works for me.  any lower dosage is useless for me.  Some people's body doesn't make enough of it naturally, so I suppose I could be one of those people.  CBD does nothing for me, although I haven't tried it in a while.

Melatonin is a tricky medication. It not only has influence in your sleep but in other parts or your brain too. A little bit it's enough to trigger sleep.

As per Mayo clinic it only should be used to correct temporary disturbances in circadian rhythms like jet lag etc. I took it and didn't help. It made me be sleepy and drowsy during the day. I would try to check my sleep hygiene first. In my experience adding more drugs may complicate the situation more.

I alternate 1 mg of melatonin with a 50 mg CBD gummie. Both work well for me. I've never needed to take them together.

Hope this helps,
