How to use scale
« on: December 19, 2022, 01:22:48 am »
Is there a post somewhere on how to use a carat scale for dry tapers?

I bought one, but none of the numbers I am getting match up.

My current daily dose is .625 mg. When I put those pills on the scale it reads .216 g. Maybe my withdrawing brain is missing something, but how does that make sense? To convert grams to mg I should multiply by 1000, right?  That gives me 216, which makes no sense whatsoever.

Help!!!!

Nothing wrong with your brain. Jewelers scales weigh in grams. When it comes to pills you've got two weights. There is actual pill weight (how much the pill weighs with fillers, active ingredient  and stuff) in grams and then there's dose weight. This is how much benzo/active ingredient you're consuming and that is calculated in mg. Most people who use a scale just taper by deducting the percentage off the pill weight in grams. So if you're cutting 10% of your dose you just cut 10% of the grams instead. Hope this makes sense?

There is quite a comprehensive discussion on the use of scales on this thread http://www.benzobuddies.org/forum/index.php?topic=273984.0
