A Benzodiazepine ME/CFS/FM Withdrawal Story
« on: November 27, 2022, 09:29:52 pm »
This is an older article I found in the very newsletter now citing ME/CFS/FM sufferers using benzodiazepines as part of patients' treatment.   https://www.healthrising.org/blog/2016/06/24/benzodiazepine-fibromyalgia-chronic-fatigue-withdrawal/

Benzos  and Z drugs just keep sneaking back into doctors' list of go-to meds for patients with chronic auto immune conditions.  Looks like this is apparently true for post viral patients with long haul COVID, too.

Yes, unfortunately on the FB groups for Long Covid many people are starting up on benzo's. Doctors don't know how to treat LC so they just prescribe benzo's to treat the symptoms which are very similar to benzo withdrawal. Sometimes people are warned about the dangers but many don't care or fully understand as they are struggling significantly, also non-functional, so they'll take anything to get some quality of life back. We'll probably start seeing an increase in new members from LC prescriptions.

Yes -- and I just briefly perused this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7780859/
