Working out
« on: June 08, 2022, 06:53:40 pm »
How many of you still work out?  IF so, does it help you?

I've not been to the gym in a long time. Mainly due to a right knee replacement that I had over a year ago. I'm still having moderate pain.  I see my surgeon next week and hoping he will do an MRI so we can see if there is really something going on.

I've not been eating healthy at all.  The only thing that tastes good are sweets/junk food.

I know eating healthy probably helps with withdrawal.

I exercised and walked during my taper/withdrawl and found it helped burn off some of the restlessness and anxious energy I had.  I can see with your knee problem that exercise might be challenging - do you live in a place where water aerobics is an option?

By the way, craving sweets during withdrawl isn't uncommon.  I tried not to fret over that too much while I was tapering - the sugar helped get me through.

Exercise can be helpful for many. But you don't want to be putting too much stress on your body, as it can actually do more harm than good. It's not uncommon for people to have setbacks from doing too much. It's best to take things slow for a while, and don't go running any marathons  :D

I used to do water aerobics. I really enjoy it.  But, I got out of the habit of going.  It's easy on the joints and relaxing being in the warm water.  I think I may go back to doing that. I need to do something to move and get out of the house.  I'm obsessing over this detox.

Believe me I won't be out there hiking Everest. LOL. I have to go slow due to my knee.  I see my surgeon next week.  I'm demanding he does an MRI this time.  I want peace of mind.  I deserve to know if there's something wrong or all is okay.  I may get a second opinion.  I think I might go back to water aerobics.

Good idea [...].  I like the idea of using the water as a relaxation tool!

I walked and swam when I was really bad, I tried to run a few times as everyone will say wear urself out to sleep better but it never helped me. But I also was told it would rev up symptoms so I was too scared to for ages. I go to gym every day now and lift heavy weights and do pretty intense cardio, but I have bad knees too so I have to be careful. It doesn’t rev me up at all but I am a year off. Slow and steady wins the race. Walking is best early on x

I plan on going back to water aerobics.  I can walk about 2-3 miles now and me knee hurts a lot afterwards.  I miss hiking! This whole knee surgery has messed up my life. I pray I don't need a revision.  But, for now I'm going to get back to the pool.

I took a long break and didn't visit the gym for a long time. But about three months ago I decided that it was time to return to exercise. Currently, I do workouts mostly at home, just surfed the Internet and found proper exercises here https://betterme.world/articles/ Yes, it took some time to get used to a new regime, but now I train at least two times a week and feel much better.
